When I went to the doctor about a neck pain, the first thing she said to me was “I think you need to see a specialist.”
The first time I went for a scan, the doctor said, “I can’t believe you’re getting a CT scan.
You’re on the treadmill.”
I thought, What the hell, this is just a normal thing.
I thought that was really weird, but they told me that’s how I’d feel.
They didn’t tell me to stop exercising.
I think it’s important to be careful about where you put your hands, or where you sit, and what your body’s going to feel like after you go for a run.
I don’t know what to do.
I didn’t realize how much the pain would hurt.
But after that first scan, it was like, You’re not going to die.
The next day, I got a CT-scan.
I remember thinking, What happened?
That’s how painful it was.
There was no pain, just a blurry image.
The doctor had no idea what was going on.
I was like: Wait, you’re going to tell me?
That was the first time in my life that I thought to myself, Wow, I’m not going dead.
When I got back to work the next day and saw that my doctor was worried about me, she said, If you go running and you can’t feel your neck pain or you feel something else, you need a scan.
That was it.
I just went back to my office and thought, This is the only time I’m going to have a scan that can’t hurt.
So I’m like, Ok, well, let’s get the scan done.
I’m standing there in my office, and my coworker comes in.
And I tell him, “Hey, you want me to do a scan?”
He says, “No, no, no.
I’ve been training with the team to do this.”
He gets in the car and we go to a place where they don’t let you have a chair, so I get on a treadmill and he takes a couple of pictures of me, but then he tells me, “Look, we’re going for the best scan possible.
So, I just look at him.
I say, “Okay, so you’ve got me in the picture.
What’s your score?
“He said, Okay, I’ve got the scan.
I look at it.
He takes the picture, and then he says, I think you might need a CT.”
So I told him I was getting a scan at this point.
He said “No way.”
I looked at the pictures, and it was obvious to me that I was not going for that CT.
So, he asked me, How many people have done this before?
And I said, I don.
He’s like, Well, then you’re good.
He took the scan and gave me a score.
I said “That’s great.”
I’ve never felt so good.
It’s like this is the first real test that you get for how you feel.
You’re trying to get your head right.
You don’t want to give the impression that you’re feeling weak.
After I had that scan, I went home and said to my wife, “Oh, that’s awesome.
I feel like a different person.”
It was like that for a few days.
Then I was sitting in my chair.
She was like “What?
Is that it?”
And I was saying, “Yeah.”
Then, she was like,” What happened to your neck?”
And then she said “Oh wow, that was a CT.
You are a different woman.”
I said, Well yeah, but it wasn’t as good as the first one.
So we went back and did a second scan.
The third one was worse.
But I’m a believer in what I do.
The first time, I thought that I’d done the wrong thing, and I thought I should have waited a few weeks.
The second time, the CT was okay, but the CT from the first scan was better.
But now I feel better.
It’s just about feeling your body.
Even though I think the treadmill is going to hurt my neck more than the CT scan, you can still use it as a good time to stretch out.
When you get off the treadmill, your shoulders will be at the top of your body, so they’re going up and down and they’re not falling.
So it’s nice to stretch your arms out, and the muscles around your neck will stretch, too.
The most important thing is that your legs will be on the ground, not on the seat.
You can just walk a bit, and you don’t need to run.
In addition to stretching your legs, you might want to get a little bit of cardio in the morning.
I do it with weights
